Grindcore, although often categorized with Death Metal, began as a very different, very extreme musical form. At it's most basic, grindcore consists of blast beats and brutal screaming, along with the standard heavy metal setup of distorted guitars, bass, and drums. Grindcore does not usually follow any format, and usually does not have verses, choruses, or bridges. The lyrics, often vulgar and disgusting, are not usually intelligable. The band credited with 'inventing' grindcore is Napalm Death, with other influential bands including Carcass, Bolt Thrower, Pitchshifter, Anal Cunt, and Crowbar.
